What is Invisalign and how does it work?

Invisalign is the modern, fast, convenient way to straighten teeth. It is comfortable, removable, almost invisible and very affordable.  You get the great smile you have always dreamed of having without the hassle and discomfort of old-style metal braces. It slowly and gently moves the teeth in small increments each time you start wearing a new set of the clear Invisalign aligners. Each set of aligners is usually worn for 2 weeks, and then you move on to the next set.

Has the FDA cleared Invisalign?

Yes, absolutely.  And Invisalign has been used by other 3 million patients since 1998.

How long does Invisalign take to straighten teeth?

It depends upon how severe the problems but most treatment can be finished in 4 to 12 months.

How often must I wear my aligners?

You need to wear your aligners 22 hours each day.  You remove them to eat, brush and floss just as you usually do.

How much does Invisalign treatment cost?

Just like the length of treatment depends upon the severity of the problem and needs to be determined individually for each person. Dr. Pateras provides free consultations so you can see if you are a candidate for Invisalign, how long treatment would take in your case, and exactly what the cost would be. Dr. Pateras offers flexible payment plans, often as low as $200 per month.

Is Invisalign better than metal braces?

In most cases Invisalign treatment is faster, more comfortable and less expensive than conventional metal braces. For some people who require jaw surgery or require extensive changes in their bite, metal braces still have some advantages. At free consultation, Dr. Pateras can tell you what the advantages and disadvantages are in your particular case.

Are there things I can’t eat or drink with Invisalign?

No. Unlike metal braces, you can eat and drink anything you wish during your treatment.

Do I have to have teeth extracted to straighten my teeth with Invisalign?

No!  Invisalign uses modern, computerized methods to reposition teeth and create a great smile without removing any teeth.

Can any dentist do Invisalign?

No. Only dentists who have had special training through Invisalign are allowed to provide Invisalign treatment. This is unfortunately not true with some other types of clear braces or even old-style metal braces. Always be sure you are getting genuine Invisalign!
